Dr. P. D. Chandana Perera received the B.Sc. degree in 1993 from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China and Ph.D. degree in 2003 from Aalborg University, Denmark, all in Electrical Engineering. From 1994 to 1997, he was employed as an Engineer in Electrical Drives and Flow Meter Division of Danfoss Industries Ltd., Hong Kong. After completing his Ph.D. degree at Aalborg University, Denmark, he joined the Motor and Control Engineering Department of Research and Technology Division, Grundfos A/S, Denmark, as a Development Engineer and served until December 2004. In April 2005, he joined the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, as a Senior Lecturer. Since then, he has been teaching many subjects related to Electrical Engineering both for undergraduate and for postgraduate students. In April 2008, he was appointed as the Head of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Ruhuna and served in the same capacity until December 2012. In January 2013, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna and served in the same capacity until December 2018. He is a Chartered Engineer of IESL and member of IEEE.
