Ms. Awanthi Jayasundara joined the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna in March,2024 as a Lecturer. She holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, where she graduated with a Second Class Upper Division. In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, she was awarded the prestigious S D Jayasundere Memorial Gold Medal at the University of Ruhuna’s General Convocation in December 2023. This award honors the graduate with the best performance in the final year undergraduate Research projects within the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering and graduated in the year 2023.

Ms. Awanthi conducted her undergraduate research on the “Implementation of an End-to-End Wireless Communication Simulator for Orbital Angular Moment Carrying Vortex Waves,” marking her as one of the top-performing students in her cohort. In addition to her academic excellence, she demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills as an active member of AIESEC at the university. Her roles included senior treasurer and advisor, where she showed remarkable dedication and commitment to various successful projects. Moreover she was Athletic Women’s’ Captain in Faculty of Engineering University of Ruhuna in 2019.

Before joining academia, Ms. Awanthi gained valuable industry experience as a QA automation engineer at Enactor. There, she developed a strong understanding of software development processes and quality assurance methodologies. Her expertise in automating testing procedures gave her deep insights into software lifecycle management and the importance of delivering robust and reliable solutions. Despite being new to the industry, she quickly mastered complex concepts and made significant contributions to her team, demonstrating a remarkable ability to learn and apply new knowledge effectively.

Ms. Awanthi is dedicated to nurturing young minds and equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic field of computer engineering. She inspires students to explore cutting-edge technologies, cultivate critical thinking, and excel in their professional endeavors.
