About
Ms. Nuha Fareed is a Lecturer in Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Technology from Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, graduating with First Class Honours and consistently earning Dean’s List recognition for outstanding academic excellence for five time of possible seven.
She has gained diverse academic and industry experience through her roles as a Lecturer, Visiting Lecturer, and Assistant Lecturer at several higher education institutions including APIIT Sri Lanka , Sri Lanka Technological Campus and ICST University Park. Her teaching portfolio spans Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, and Information Technology, with active involvement in undergraduate project supervision, examination processes, and curriculum delivery.
Her research interests lie in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Audio Signal Processing, and Intelligent Systems. Her undergraduate research focused on enhancing telemedicine diagnosis of respiratory diseases using reinforcement learning on lung sound data. She has contributed to multiple journal publications and international conference proceedings in areas such as AI in healthcare, lung sound classification, and emerging technologies.
In addition to teaching and research, she has experience as an Intern Software Engineer, project coordinator and IT instructor, where she led and managed educational and software development projects. She is committed to fostering innovation, supporting student development, and advancing research-driven learning within the Engineering discipline.
