About

Mr. Heshan Ruhunage is a lecturer attached to the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna since 2025. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Hons) degree specialized in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa.

He gained industry exposure as an Intern Trainee Engineer at the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LECO). During his undergraduate period, he was appointed as a Visiting Instructor in the department based on his academic performance and interest in teaching.

He has made significant contributions at the university level to professional bodies such as the IESL, where he has held executive-level positions, reflecting strong involvement in industry-oriented initiatives beyond academia. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a Contract Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Ruhuna.

His teaching and research interests include power systems, electrical machines, and power electronics, with a particular focus on smart grids, renewable-integrated microgrids, and energy economics.
