The 8th AGM of AAREIE (Alumni Association of Ruhuna Electrical and Information Engineering) for year 2022/2023 was held on 25th June 2022 from 10.00 am onwards at the Faculty of Engineering (FoE) premises as a hybrid event.
Eminence is one of the competitions organized by the Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group of IEEE Student Branch in University of Ruhuna. Mainly it involves software. electronics, telecommunication and electric fields related tasks during the competition.
Dialog – UoR 5G Innovation Centre invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA) in Cybersecurity and Data Science domains. A successful candidate will be assigned to a project on botnet attack detection in IoT networks. The project aims to detect and identify different stages of botnet attacks on IoT devices using data mining and machine learning techniques.
Two more workshops of the workshop series conducted by Duke University, North Carolina, USA were held on 23rd February and 27th April, 2022. The purpose of these workshops to train the academic staff in the department regarding Engineering Design Methodology.
A workshop on “Fire Detection and Protection Design” by industry expertise, Mr. Kamal Deshapriya, Assistant General Manager at LAUGFS Terminals Limited and Mr. Amidh Perera, Electrical Engineer, In-charge at LPG Cylinder Filling Plant, Hambantota and Assistant Manager at LAUGFS Terminals Limited, was held on 27th of April, 2022.
The first increased student intake (532 students) was physically admitted to the Faculty of Engineering from 28th March, 2022. A short inauguration ceremony was arranged again although they were officially inaugurated to the faculty last year through ZOOM.
A tech session was conducted on 29th March, 2022 by Synopsys Lanka (Pvt) Ltd to make students of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering aware on Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
In collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), Dialog Axiata PLC has established ‘5G Innovation Centres’ at the engineering faculties of leading universities to create and incubate interest-driven learning, innovation and entrepreneurship for future leaders.
