About

Mr. Sucharitha M. Kavisigamuwa holds a B.Sc. Eng. (Hons) in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, specializing in mechanical design, FEA, and composite material engineering. His undergraduate research focused on VARTM-based composite manufacturing, optimizing resin infusion parameters for improved structural performance.

He gained industrial experience at Micro Cars (Pvt.) Ltd, contributing to assembly line optimization, ergonomic fixture design, and FlexSim-based layout planning, and later at Stellana (Pvt.) Ltd, where he worked on the Telehandler Tire Project, including benchmarking, market research, and SolidWorks-based design.

After graduation, he served as a Temporary Instructor at the University of Ruhuna before joining LAUGFS Corporation (Rubber) Ltd as a Design and Development Engineer, later advancing to Product Development Engineer. Over nearly two years in the tire industry, he led NPD for industrial tires, handling conceptual design, Abaqus simulations, prototyping, tread optimization, bonding improvements, and curing cycle validation.

In 2025, he returned to academia as a Probationary Lecturer in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. His research interests span automotive product design, additive manufacturing, aerodynamics/hydrodynamics, composites and polymers, and simulation-driven product development. He is committed to integrating simulation, experimentation, and advanced manufacturing to drive innovation and strengthen industry–university collaboration.
