A tech session was conducted on 29th March, 2022 by Synopsys Lanka (Pvt) Ltd to make students of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering aware on Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
Establishing ‘5G Innovation Centre’ at the department with Dialog Axiata PLC
In collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), Dialog Axiata PLC has established ‘5G Innovation Centres’ at the engineering faculties of leading universities to create and incubate interest-driven learning, innovation and entrepreneurship for future leaders.
Appointment of Prof. Madhusanka Liyanage as an Adjunct Professor to DEIE
On the request of Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Prof. Madhusanka Liyanage, an Assistant Professor and also the Director of Graduate Research at School of Computer Science, University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, has been appointed as an Adjunct Assistant Professor from 1st of January, 2022 for two (02) years.
Champions of “Evolution AI” (Artificial Intelligence Ideathon)
A group of students from the 22nd Batch, Faculty of Engineering has won the championship of islandwide “Evolution AI”, an Artificial Intelligence Ideathon organized by AIESEC in the University of Kelaniya.

Mr. Matt de Caussin, a Digital Nomad Ambassador for Sri Lanka from ICTA and two of Ruhunu startup hub officials, Mr. Sahan Bodaragama and Mr. Hiran Edirisinghe visited the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering on 23rd February, 2022.
