Dr. W. N. B. A. Geeth Priyankara, attached to the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, has been honored with the President’s Award for Scientific Research. This award is considered one of the most prestigious honors for the scientific community in Sri Lanka. Dr. Geeth received this Certificate of Recognition for highly rated scientific research, as evaluated by peers and published in the year 2021. His award-winning research, published in the esteemed IEEE Transactions on Communications, is titled: “A Discrete-Time Markov Chain Based Comparison of the MAC Layer Performance of C-V2X Mode 4 and IEEE 802.11p”. The President’s Awards for Scientific Research are granted to Sri Lankan scientists who publish in top-ranked, prestigious journals. The awarding ceremony, organized by the National Research Council of Sri Lanka, was held on December 18th, 2025, at the Waters Edge Hotel in Colombo, where His Excellency the President extended his personal felicitations and best wishes to the awardees for their contributions to global knowledge.
