The Closing Ceremony of the XXVII Inter-Faculty Sports Meet 2025, organized by the Physical Education Unit, was held on the 13th of July 2025 from 3.00 p.m. onwards at the Outdoor Stadium, University of Ruhuna. The Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor P. A. Jayantha, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony included the awarding of trophies and certificates, as well as special performances to mark the successful conclusion of this year’s Sports Meet.
The Faculty of Engineering showcased outstanding achievements and a strong spirit of sportsmanship throughout the event. Our team spirit was especially evident in almost all team sports. During the award ceremony, our faculty dominated the spotlight across all events, capturing the attention of the entire pavilion. It was truly a fascinating moment to see the line of trophies in front of our faculty lineup grow one by one.
Our students secured a total of 260 points in the Inter-Faculty Sports Meet, becoming the overall champions. They won the championship in male sports and were runners-up in female sports—an incredible achievement.
Despite facing several challenges, such as a tight academic schedule, travel barriers for training sessions, the ongoing examination period, and the setback caused by the gym collapse, our students rose to the occasion and participated in numerous events, showcasing their commitment and resilience.
The students are truly grateful to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for his constant support in sports-related matters. Special thanks go to our Instructor in Physical Education, Mr. W. P. N. T. Lakmal, for being the driving force behind this success. The contributions of the Sports Club throughout the meet are also deeply appreciated.
With this remarkable achievement, our students are now ready to take on the Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) 2025!
