The Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, is proud to announce that the project \u201ciHeart: Multi-modal Cardiac Monitor for Emerging AI Health Applications\u201d secured 2nd Place at the National AI Awards 2026 under the Innovation & Future Focus Category \u2013 University AI\u00a0Innovation Award.<\/p>\n

The National AI Awards 2026, organized by SLT-MOBITEL in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, provides a national platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements and innovations in artificial intelligence across Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

iHeart is an innovative multi-modal cardiac monitoring system designed to integrate multiple physiological signals for advanced cardiac assessment and emerging AI-based healthcare applications.<\/p>\n

The project was carried out under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Arjuna Madanayake and Dr. Chatura Seneviratne, with the dedicated efforts and collaboration of the student project team.<\/p>\n

This national-level recognition highlights the Faculty\u2019s continued commitment to advancing artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, healthcare technology, and student-led innovation.
