Thermal and Fluid Engineering

Overview

This is the most versatile specialized area in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering curriculum which two separate laboratories are occupied for Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics to facilitate laboratory classes and research work. Thermal and Fluid Engineering division has well equipped laboratories of Heat transfer, Energy Technology, Combustion, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Fluid Dynamics, Fluid Power and Aerospace Engineering. It is capable of conducting most of the standard laboratory tests including number of field tests.

The Thermodynamics Engineering Division comprises three staff members who have gained the postgraduate qualifications from universities in Japan, Sri Lanka and Russia. They have gained very valuable experience in research and consultancy through numerous projects handled both in Sri Lanka and Overseas. Also the Fluid Mechanics laboratory consists four staff members lead by one senior lecturer and three lectures who have obtained post graduate qualifications from Japan, United Kingdom, France and Sri Lanka.
